The walled city area is located in the northern part of Jaipur, and is the commercial and trading hub. The walled city is also the historic core of the city, and has a large number of commercial establishments that are engaged in specialized activities and trade in speciality products. The area is home to a number of important tourist locations and attracts a large number of tourists to the area. In addition, the area has a number of important public amenities that attract a large number of visitors every day, for variety of purposes.

A large number of two wheeler and car trips are made to the three main arteries of Chaura Rasta, Kishanpole Bazar and Johri Bazar in the walled city area. The current level of parking arrangement is very poor, as both two and four wheelers on these main roads do kerb side parking. This effectively reduces the available carriage way to only one lane, as slow moving vehicles occupy the left most available lane. Further these three arteries are also used as a thoroughfare for vehicles (due to lack of viable alternatives) that adds to the traffic congestion in the walled city area. The existing off-street parking is not organised, and vehicles are parked in the open.

JMC intends to develop a state of the art parking facility at Ram Lila Maidan, Jaipur. The project will involve development of a parking infrastructure with limited commercial area. The capacity of the project will be 300 car spaces.
