Jalore
is one of the most backward districts of the country. The
socio-economic indicators for the district clearly indicate its
economic and social backwardness. With subsistence agriculture being
the primary economic activity, the district has faced several
constraints to development. Jalore Area Development Program (JADP) is
an innovative programme that has been conceived to address the
developmental challenge of the Jalore district on a comprehensive,
integrated and self-sustaining basis.
The outcome of the
proposed programme will be a significant increase in per capita
incomes, drought proofing with a demonstrable capability to sustain
the economic and social development of the district on a long term
basis.
The programme seeks to extend the Public Private
Partnership approach to district levels, so as to bring together
benefits of private sector efficiencies in terms of costs, delivery
and timelines and States commitment of providing infrastructure
facilities with an overall objective of public welfare.
